Fears of TOTAL WAR in south Asia explode as Pakistan accuses India of backing terrorism

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

The nuclear armed rivals have fought each other four times since independence, with three of the conflicts taking place over the disputed territory of Kashmir. India has faced an insurgency in Kashmir since 1989 from nationalist and Islamist elements which it has long accused Pakistan of stoking.

On Monday India submitted a dossier to the UN accusing Pakistan of systematically supporting terrorism within its territory.

One day later Pakistan submitted a similar document accusing India of backing terrorism in Pakistan.

Munir Akram, Pakistan’s UN ambassador, called on the international community to “take note of Indian terrorism and subversion against Pakistan and to prevail on India to desist from these illegal and aggressive activities”.

He claimed India is in violation of Security Council resolutions condemning terrorism and the UN Charter.

However an Indian spokesman fired back arguing it is Pakistan that has been backing terrorism.

He said: “Pakistan can cry hoarse from the rooftops.

“But they cannot change the fact that they are the epicentre of terrorism.

“Their lies have no takers.”

India and Pakistan have contested control of Jammu and Kashmir, a Muslim dominated region currently split between the two powers, since both became independent in 1947.

Last week India alleges four gunmen, from the Pakistan based group Jaish-e-Mohammad, crossed into Indian controlled Kashmir using a tunnel.

After being spotted they opened fire, though there are no reports of any casualties.

Pakistan has strongly denied any involvement in the attack.

Earlier this month Imran Khan, Prime Minister of Pakistan, directly accused India of being involved with terrorism.

He commented: “We have provided irrefutable evidence of India’s state sponsored terrorism inside Pakistan.

“Details of financial & material support & Indian state’s direct involvement in terrorism have been given to the world which, in the face of this evidence, cannot remain indifferent or silent.

“We expect the international community to force India to end its terrorism & bring to justice those responsible for killing thousands of innocent people in Pakistan.

“Our resilient & courageous security agencies & forces will continue to give their all to protect our people.”

The remarks were greeted with a firm denial by Indian authorities.

In February 2019 tensions between India and Pakistan exploded into armed clashes along their contested border.

India conducted strikes inside Pakistan aimed at a militant group it blamed for a suicide car bombing which killed 40 Indian troops.

Pakistan retaliated and during the conflict an Indian F-15 fighter jet was shot down.

It’s pilot, wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman, was taken prisoner and later released back into Indian hands.

Brexit trade: UK set for ‘more advanced’ Canada talks to deliver ‘much more’ than EU deal

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

International Trade Secretary Liz Truss has confirmed the UK and Canada have agreed to begin “more advanced” negotiations once Britain is finally freed from the shackles of the EU on January 1, 2021. On Friday, the UK finalised a post-Brexit deal with Canada to protect the flow of goods and services worth £20billion.

Boris Johnson said the extension of existing EU terms was a “fantastic agreement for Britain”.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said both would look at ways to “maximise our trade opportunities”.

The UK has now agreed trade deal with more than 50 countries around the world, worth more than £150billion.

Ms Truss said: “We have also agreed to start negotiating a more advanced trade deal next year, which will be more ambitious in areas such as digital trade, women’s economic empowerment and the environment.

“We will build on this in our presidency of the G7, working with like-minded democracies such as Canada to promote our priorities around the world.”

Writing in Sunday Telegraph, she added: “This deal will allow us to take our economic relationship to new heights.

“It also takes us a step closer to hitching ourselves to one of the most dynamic trading areas in the world.”

The International Trade Secretary added the UK would look towards joining the Trans-Pacific Partnership made up of 11 nations, including Canada, Japan and Australia.

Ms Truss explained this would give Britain access to a market which is equivalent to 13 percent of global GDP – worth around £11trillion.

In a major swipe at the EU, Ms Truss insisted “they thrive under modern, business-friendly rules which offer much more than the EU could for the industries of the future”.

She added: “Together, we would form a coalition of the willing in the fight for free and fair trade which would push back against protectionism and those who would try to subvert the world’s rules-based system.”

Over the past two years the UK has agreed deals with 53 nations worth £164billion.

Ms Truss confirmed the UK was not done yet and is working on agreements with the US, Australia and New Zealand in order to “turbocharge” industries.

She said: “We are working flat out to reach new gold-standard arrangements with the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.

Joe Biden LOSES IT with CBS reporter after unscheduled probe on coronavirus and schools

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

US President-elect Joe Biden lost his cool at CBS reporter Bo Erickson who asked a question on coronavirus impacting schools being open. Mr Biden was closing a meeting with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the press and photographers were being asked to leave. Mr Biden told Ms Pelosi “in my Oval Office, mi casa, you casa” before saying that was the end of the photo opportunity.

Mr Erickson quickly used the opportunity to ask Mr Biden a question on how he plans to work with unions to ensure schools can be open.

Mr Erickson asked Mr Biden: “Mr Biden, the Covid task force said it is safe to be in class.

“Are you going to ask Unions to cooperate to bring kids back to the classroom, Sir?”

Mr Biden failed to answer the question and snapped: “Why are you the only guy who shouts questions?”

After the incident, Mr Erickson posted the moment on his Twitter page and seen support for his actions and condemnation for the President-elect.

One Twitter user wrote: “A valid, totally calm question.

“The only shouting was their team trying to rush all media out, we need answers to both issues.”

While another agreed and said: “The guy who asked the question didn’t shout it out.

“He was very respectful to Biden, which he didn’t even answer.

“Has Biden got sensitive hearing or could he not answer the question when it was asked?”

Other social media user insisted Biden handled the situation poorly as it was a question the American population need an answer to.

One Twitter user wrote: “No questions will be taken that are unscripted, this guy is completely clueless.”

Another added: “I appreciate you trying to ascertain a simple position on a very critical issue facing all of us.

“Pathetic what the Biden team did to the full press staff in ushering them out like there was a fire in the building.

“Absolutely comical, what an incompetent person Joe Biden is.”

Defector reveals HORROR treatment of North Korean women in China

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

Each year thousands of North Koreans attempt to flee Kim Jong-un’s brutal dictatorship, predominantly via the northern border with China. However, many of these, who are disproportionately young women, fall into the hands of people traffickers and are sold into slavery in China.

Here many face sexual abuse and some even fall victim to organ traffickers according to Ms Park, who now lives in Chicago.

Speaking about her escape to Express.co.uk she said: “We initially thought my sister and I go and if you go to China we thought we would be adopted by a family or something.

“We did not know how dark the world was. We didn’t think there was human traffickers selling girls for sexual slavery.”

After crossing the frozen Yalu river Ms Park, along with her mother, was helped into China by a woman who bribed the border guards.

She explained: “We didn’t even think why she was helping us. It was because she was turning us to human traffickers in China.

“As soon as we got there in China the first thing I witnessed was my mum being raped in front of me.

“They sold me mum for at least 65-75 dollars and they sold me for less than 300 dollars because I was a virgin. I was 13 and a half.”

After two years in captivity Ms Park managed to leave captivity and made her way to Mongolia, where she received assistance from the South Korean embassy.

According to the Korean Institute of Criminology an estimated 75 percent of North Korean defectors who make it to China fall victim to trafficking gangs.

Asked whether the Chinese Government knows what’s going on Ms Park replied: “Of course they do! They absolutely know.

“In the past there were slave hunters, who would catch slaves to get money, and that’s what the Chinese regime does. They make defector hunters so if you catch a North Korean defector you get money from the Government.

“And then the Government catches us and they send us back to North Korea to be executed, tortured and sent to prison camps. That is crimes against humanity.

“China cannot just break international law but they do it anyway because it’s China, what can we do anyway right? It’s a very powerful communist party.

“Of all the defectors 90 percent are women and a lot of them are young girls like myself.

“Being sold as a sexual slave isn’t even the worst thing that can happen, they buy us for organ trafficking.

“Buy us for the organs. They compare us in China to pigs.

“A lot of psychopaths, perverts, they buy North Korean women to do whatever they want to them.

“So we are treated as less than pets. Our lives are less valuable than puppies right now in China.”

Ms Park claimed around 90 percent of North Koreans who manage to escape the country are female.

Asked why this is she replied: “In the North Korean system they view men as more important beings.

“So if a man escapes they punish the family more severely.

“However, a lot of the reason is that if women escape they are usually brought, brought by brothels, brought by farmers for forced marriage.

“So it’s a bit easier for women to survive in China because we can be sexually exploited.”

The Chinese Embassy in London was contacted by Express.co.uk for comment regarding the allegations.

World War fears 3 EXPLODE as China prepares for ‘final act of madness’ from Donald Trump

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

According to all major US networks sitting president was defeated earlier this month by Democrat Party rival Joe Biden. However, he is refusing to concede, claiming the election was rigged against him, and has launched a number of legal challenges against the result.

Speaking to the Global Times, a state controlled Chinese tabloid, an international relations expert warned Mr Trump could try and intensify his conflict with Beijing during his final months in office.

The claim was made by Shen Yi, a professor at Fudan University in Shanghai.

Mr Biden won’t be inaugurated as the 46th president of the United States until January 20, until which Mr Trump has full presidential powers.

Ms Yi claimed: “Trump is actually setting a trap or planting a landmine for the Biden administration.”

She suggested Mr Trump could use his presidential executive powers to hit China’s technology industry in the United States or punish Beijing over its treatment of its Uyghur Muslim minority.

The Global Times argues this would force Mr Biden to continue a hard-line policy towards China unless he wants to be seen as a “panda hugger”.

The paper is owned by China’s ruling communist party and usually reflects officially held opinion in Beijing.

John Ullyot, a spokesman for America’s National Security Council, also warned a Biden presidency will find it difficult to reset relations with China.

He commented: “Unless Beijing reverses course and becomes a responsible player on the global stage, future U.S. presidents will find it politically suicidal to reverse President Trump’s historic actions.”

Relations between the US and China have deteriorated sharply under Mr Trump’s presidency with the two superpowers clashing over trade, Hong Kong, the South China Sea, Taiwan, human rights and the COVID-19 epidemic.

Beijing’s claim of sovereignty over the South China Sea overlaps with rival claims from five of its neighbours.

The US refuses to recognise the Chinese claim and periodically sends warships through the region, on ‘freedom of navigation’ patrols, to illustrate this point.

The Trump administration also placed sanctions on a number of top Chinese officials accused of persecuting the country’s Uyghur minority.

It’s been reports that as many as a million Uyghur Muslims are being forcibly held in re-education camps were torture and sexual abuse are rife.

Mr Trump’s personal relationship with Xi Jinping, the Chinese president, has varied dramatically.

Early in his presidency Mr Trump claimed “we love each other”.

However, after the coronavirus emerged in China late last year the president has infuriated Beijing by insisting on calling it the “China virus” or Wuhan virus”.

Over the past two years Mr Trump has been waging a partial trade war, including the imposition of tariffs, against Beijing with mixed results.

There have also been fears about what President Trump will do with his remaining days in office with reference to Iran.

According to the New York Times at a meeting last week he asked his security advisors about launching a military strike on Iran’s main nuclear site.

The paper reports senior officials, including vice-president Mike Pence and secretary of state Mike Pompeo, talked him out of the plan fearing it would trigger a regional war.

Mr Trump withdrew the US from the Iran nuclear deal, negotiated by his predecessor, in 2018.

Furious China SEIZES Australian wine as coronavirus trade war explodes

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

The two countries have clashed repeatedly in the last few months over coronavirus, Hong Kong and human rights. The seized wine had been ordered by at least a dozen wine exhibitors for an upcoming regional show.

According to the Daily Mail the Chinese Communist Party has informally told Chinese companies to stop buying Australian wine, copper, lobster, coal, timber, sugar and barley from Friday.

Relations between China and Australia plummeted in April after the Australian government demanded an independent investigation into the origins of the coronavirus.

In response Beijing put an 80 percent tariff on barley from Australia.

It also suspended the import of beef and cotton and encouraged Chinese students not to visit Australia.

Australian foreign minister Marise Payne spoke out against the move.

Speaking to reporters she said: “We are continuing to seek clarity from the Chinese authorities both here in Australia and in China.

“There has been a consistent denial of any targeting of Australian products and a commitment spoken of in relation to observation of trade rules.

“We would encourage Chinese authorities to act in accord with those rules.”

Ms Payne also admitted she has concerns the measures could be politically motivated.

She commented: “We do have concerns of these issues.

“We expect our trade with China to be undertaken consistent with WTO obligations.”

However, when contacted by The Australian a spokesman for Beijing’s Ministry of Commerce denied extra restrictions have been placed on Australian products.

He said: “We did not hold such a meeting, neither did we issue the notice, nor do we know about such rumours.”

Separately Wang Wenbin, a spokesman for the Chinese foreign ministry, insisted his country was only conducting legitimate inspection and control measures.

He added: “China believes a sound and stable China-Australia relationship serves the fundamental interests of the two peoples.

“In the meantime, mutual respect is the foundation and guarantee of practical cooperation between countries.

“We hope Australia can do more to enhance mutual trust and bilateral cooperation, as the China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership calls for, and bring the bilateral relations back to the right track as early as possible.”

Earlier this year China announced new security laws which stripped Hong Kong of much of its autonomy, earning condemnation from Australia.

Under the new measures anyone who protests against Beijing’s policies can be arrested for sedition.

In response the UK announced all Hong Kong residents entitled to British overseas citizenship could move to Britain for an extended period.

A route for these people to achieve full British citizenship will also be provided.

China vowed to respect Hong Kong’s autonomy for an extended period before the UK handed back its former colony.

Joe Biden appears to confuse granddaughter with his dead son in horror election day gaffe

Joe Biden was caught in an embarrassing blunder as he addressed a crowd in Philadelphia on election day. The US presidential hopeful was attempting to introduce his granddaughter Natalie Biden. While speaking through a megaphone to the crowd he introduced her as his deceased son Beau, Natalie’s father.

After his gaffe, the crowd quickly falls silent forcing Mr Biden to correct himself at which point the cheers begin again.

Mr Biden said: “I want to introduce you to two of my granddaughters.

“This is my son Beau Biden who a lot of you helped elect to the senate in Delaware.”

As the crowd continues to murmur, Mr Biden attempts to correct himself.

During a virtual event to encourage enthusiasm, the US presidential hopeful’s wife Jill Biden was forced to correct him.

World War 3 fears ERUPT as Chinese troops ‘occupy Indian territory’ in critical situation

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

Tensions between India and China have already boiled over this year with a number of deadly border clashes. In June 20 Indian soldiers were killed during hand-to-hand fighting with Chinese troops along the countries disputed Himalayan border.

Speaking to The Hindu Thupstan Chhewang, formerly a member of parliament for the governing BJP party, claimed Chinese troops have seized Indian territory.

He said: “The border situation is critical.

“The Chinese troops have not only further transgressed into our areas but they have also occupied prominent positions in Finger 2 and 3 areas of Pangong Tso, even the Hot Springs area they have not fully vacated.

“This is what we have come to know from locals.”

According to The Hindu Chinese soldiers have advanced eight kilometres into territory claimed by India.

The publication reports a military build-up of Chinese forces on the Depsang plains, south bank of Pangong Tso, Galwan and Gogra-Hot Springs.

Mr Chhewang added Indian troops facing their Chinese counterparts are living in tents and this is not sustainable long-term in such a cold area.

He commented: “The soldiers are put up in tents; this is not acceptable.

“If despite several negotiations, the government is not able to convince the Chinese to withdraw, then adequate shelter should be provided to the soldiers.”

On June 15 Indian and Chinese soldiers fought for six hours in the contested Galwan Valley.

As firearms are banned near the border the two sides battled using iron bars, clubs wrapped with barbed wire and rocks.

As well as the 20 Indian dead there were reports of Chinese casualties but these have not been verified by Beijing.

Many of the Indian soldiers who were killed either drowned or died from exposure after being injured.

The border clash caused outrage in India with anti-Beijing protests breaking out across the country.

In response the Indian Government banned a number of mobile apps, including TikTok, on national security grounds.

India has also formed closer security ties with the United States, Japan and Australia, all of which fear an increasingly assertive China.

Earlier this week US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Defence Secretary Mark Esper held talks with Indian officials in New Delhi.

The two powers signed a new agreement that will see them share military intelligence.

However, the move was described as a provocation by Wang Wenbin, a spokesman for China’s foreign ministry.

He said: “What it upholds is nothing but the dominating role of the United States and its hegemonic system.

“We urge certain US politicians to reject the Cold-War and zero-sum game mentality, and stop making erroneous moves like hyping up the so-called ‘China threat,’ sowing discord between regional countries, and undercutting regional peace and stability.

“We always hold that bilateral relations between countries should be conducive to regional peace, stability and development and should not undermine the legitimate rights and interests of any third party.”

China accuses US of starting ‘second COLD WAR’ after anti-Beijing alliance with India

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Defence Secretary Mark Esper visited New Delhi for talks. On Tuesday they agreed the Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement (BECA) which will see the US and India share military intelligence.

Both America and India have been unnerved by China’s growing assertiveness across Asia.

However the move was condemned as provocative by Wang Wenbin, a spokesman for China’s foreign ministry.

On Wednesday he attacked the new agreement commenting: “What it upholds is nothing but the dominating role of the United States and its hegemonic system.

“We urge certain U.S. politicians to reject the Cold-War and zero-sum game mentality, and stop making erroneous moves like hyping up the so-called ‘China threat,’ sowing discord between regional countries, and undercutting regional peace and stability.

“We always hold that bilateral relations between countries should be conducive to regional peace, stability and development and should not undermine the legitimate rights and interests of any third party.

“All visions on regional cooperation should be in line with the trend of the times, which is peace, development and win-win cooperation.”

Relations between the US and China have declined sharply over the past few years with the two clashing on a number of issues.

Washington and Beijing have rowed over trade, COVID-19, Hong Kong, the South China Sea and China’s treatment of its Uyghur minority.

Following the deal with India Mr Pompeo said: “Our leaders and our citizens see with increasing clarity that the CCP [Chinese Communist Party] is no friend to democracy, the rule of law, transparency, nor to freedom of navigation, the foundation of a free and open and prosperous Indo-Pacific.

China has been governed as a dictatorship by the CCP since the country’s long civil war ended in 1949.

Whilst India has historically avoided international alliances tensions with Beijing have forced it to reassess this position.

In June 20 Indian soldiers were killed during a clash with their Chinese counterparts along the two countries contested border.

Chinese casualties were also reported, though Beijing has refused to release an exact figure.

Following the violence a number of Chinese apps, including TikTok, were banned in India on national security grounds.

During his visit to New Delhi Mr Pompeo took part in a ceremony paying tribute to the dead soldiers.

India and China fought a short war over their contested territory in 1962.

As tensions with Beijing have mounted India has strengthened its alliances with the US, Japan and Australia, fellow members of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue.

The four quad powers claim they are committed to ensuring a “free and open Indo-Pacific” region.

Tensions between Beijing and Washington have also escalated over control of the South China Sea, the world’s busiest shipping lane.

China’s claim to the region overlaps with those from five of its neighbours.

To demonstrate their rejection of Chinese sovereignty the US, and a number of other western powers, send warships to conduct ‘freedom of navigation’ patrols through the area.

Beijing has been building military bases on islands, both natural and artificial, in the South China Sea to support its claim.

Joe Biden humiliated by Donald Trump after warning of ‘4 more years of GEORGE’ in blunder

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

US President hopeful Joe Biden appeared to forget who the current United States President was during an interview. Mr Biden spoke to his supporters via a virtual concert to encourage enthusiasm in his push for the White House. He was joined with his wife Jill Biden who appeared to have corrected him after his blunder.

Mr Biden said: “We need to look at what kind of country that we are going to be.

“Four more years of George, er, George, er, he – we’re going to find ourselves in a position where, if Trump gets elected, we’re going to be in a different world.”

Jill appeared to remind her husband it was Trump who was President during his blunder.

The President, himself, was also swift to respond, tweeting: “Joe Biden called me George yesterday. Couldn’t remember my name. Got some help from the anchor to get him through the interview. The Fake News Cartel is working overtime to cover it up!”

Many have taken online to speculate which George President Mr Biden may have been referring to.

Many then took to Twitter to voice their concerns for Mr Biden and mock the potential future President.

One Twitter user wrote: “You wouldn’t hand over the TV remote to this guy but he may end up being President of the USA, frightening.”

Another added: “Poor Jill Biden.
